At Pothos Health, we're an out-of-network provider, which means we don't accept insurance. However, we can empower you to maximize your insurance benefits. Learn how to obtain out-of-network coverage below.

Clients often receive reimbursement for 50-80% of session costs after meeting their deductible. Many excellent therapists are out-of-network. We encourage you to inquire with your insurance company about reimbursement coverage as you find the best therapist for you.

Does Pothos accept Medicare or Medicaid plans?

No, unfortunately Pothos does not currently accept Medicare or Medicaid plans, and due to federal regulations, we cannot provide services to anyone who is covered by Medicare or Medicaid - even if they want to pay out of pocket.

How does payment work and what are my payment options?

We’ll take your payment information when you book your first appointment. You’ll be billed at the close of your appointment, and it may take 1-2 business days for the charge to show up on your statement. We accept all major credit/debit cards.

What types of therapy does Pothos offer?

Pothos offers a variety of therapy options tailored to meet your unique needs. Our licensed therapists are trained in individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. Additionally, we specialize in trauma-informed therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based therapies.

How long are the therapy sessions?

The duration of therapy sessions at Pothos varies based on the type of therapy and your individual needs. Typically, individual therapy sessions last around 50 minutes, while couples and family therapy sessions may range from 60 to 90 minutes. Group therapy sessions may last for 90 minutes to two hours. Your therapist will work with you to determine the most appropriate session length for your therapy journey.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

During your first therapy session, your therapist will spend time getting to know you and understanding your reasons for seeking therapy. They will likely ask you questions about your background, medical history, and current challenges. It's an opportunity for you to share your goals and concerns and for your therapist to explain how therapy can help. The first session is also a chance for you to assess if the therapist is the right fit for you.

How do I use my out-of-network benefits?

Step 1: Find out what your out-of-network coverage is. Grab your insurance card and call the number on the back. Ask if you have out-of-network coverage for behavioral health and what deductible you need to meet before they will start reimbursing. They may cover a percentage of the cost, typically 50-80% of the allowable reimbursement. Step 2: Download the Reimbursify app or contact your insurance company to learn their unique process to submit an out-of-network claim. Step 3: Tell your therapist you need a 'superbill' and upload it to Reimbursify. Once you hit your deductible, your insurance company will start mailing reimbursement checks to your mailing address.

Do you accept sliding scale members?

Pothos Health believes everyone should have access to high-quality trauma therapy, and as part of that mission, we do accept private pay sliding scale members. If you need this benefit, please contact us.

What does Out Of Network mean?

If you are in a location in a state we are not expanded to or have an insurance not listed, you can often still use your benefits.

What is Private Pay?

Privacy and access are important. If you would not like your insurer to have access to your records or do not currently have insurance, we accept private pay members as well.
